From Kidz to Kidz

From Kidz To Kidz is the brainchild of a special girl, Helen van Rhyn. |
The initiative engages children from fortunate backgrounds and creates a platform for those whose circumstances have been trying, to liaise and learn from each other. Helen is a passionate South African, with a deep consideration for her community. Together with her peers, she facilitates the exchange of gifts between children. She masterminded a plan to make it easy for children from different communities to share their old toys, clothes, books and stationery. There are also opportunities for kids from cultural communities to share their gifts of song, dance and joy with each other.
On the 30th of January 2010, she turned the tender age of 12 and chose to celebrate her birthday at Build-a-Bear. Ordinarily, only friends would be invited to the party however, Helen is far from ordinary and thus proposed that the day be spent giving to children who’ve been abandoned or abused. Up to 8 children joined her from Rainbow House, a home for children at risk. Rainbow House is based in Cape Town and continues to grow into a sustainable program for Family Development.
From Kidz to Kidz is refining a culture of generosity in the younger generation. This ultimately strengthens the fabric of South African society, one young community at a time.
